Women shun 'the man who has it all'

Some men are just too good to be true, according to a study published today by psychologists.

Men who are good-looking, single, and earn a fortune are not as attractive as good-looking men who have an average kind of job, according to the research.

Simon Chu of the University of Central Lancashire and colleagues studied how women weigh up male physical attractiveness and socio-economic status when considering a long-term relationship.

They collected data from 186 female university students in the UK, with an average age of 23, asking them to look at personal ads of various men and rank them in terms of attractiveness as a long-term partner. Each advertisement showed a "mug shot" and provided basic information about his age, occupation and what he is seeking in a partner.

Images of the men ranged from those who were previously measured to be highly attractive, attractive and unattractive. Eighteen different occupations were also randomly assigned, from architect and company director to waiter, postman and gardener.

Surprisingly, researchers found that highly attractive men of medium status scored better than highly attractive men of high status.

The team, whose work is published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences, speculates that women perceive highly attractive men of increasing status to be less faithful and "too good to be true".

Women want Elvis. Men want Anna Nicole Smith. Both dead now. End of discussion!

Well, that explains my problem. I'm 36 years old, very good looking, 6ft tall, muscular, not an ounce of fat. I have the perfect tan and I'm a millionaire......... and can't find a good woman. I guess I'm just too perfect. (I'm a good liar too)

You mean your wife isn't Morgan Fairchild?

I will get flamed for this. Modern women are nasty, evil creatures who suck the blood from those fools that marry them.

Most of these women live under the delusion that the jerk, free choice, that they married owes them a life time of servitude.

I don't want to hear the usual broad crap that that "He was a cheating' dog.." What about you, don't you bear some responsibility?

Oh, it was hard and the dog didn't buy me Lexis on Valentines Day, get real life is hard.

You just nailed it. Well-off men can have any beautiful woman they can afford. I'll bet that's high stress for a woman to realize she can be replaced at any time. Like the lady said, you'd have to be an alpha female, so it's a race to see who gets dumped first.

I disagree. I am an older woman. Income is an issue as far as I am concerned. I make a fairly good income, and I want someone who can keep up his end. I am past arguing about money. A CNA making 18K or a gentleman ekking it out on just SSI just isnt going to work. My net worth is above average and I am a good money manager. I plan a comfortable but not spectacular retirement and I would like to enjoy it with someone who loves me and can row the boat with me.

You should move back to Florida--much better tax situation.

Nice people, too--a good number of conservatives in this area as you know.

I fully intend to move somewhere in the South (or Florida, which isn't quite south) in 4-5 years.

Envy and jealousy because they're hard to get?

Or, just spitefulness and brainlessness?

Not all women are like that. But there are enough that the smart man avoids the possibility. She should bring as much to the table as he does. If not, amscray.
