Two weeks after speaking to a sell-out Manchester crowd of more than 1,600, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is reaping the benefits of his visit. If the Democratic primary were held today, Obama would be in a statistical dead heat with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, according to a new Monitor poll. Last month, a Monitor poll showed Clinton trouncing her opponents, with Obama lagging 23 points behind.
"I'm not surprised, because Barack Obama got five days of constant media attention in New Hampshire," said Jim Demers, a lobbyist and former Democratic lawmaker who accompanied Obama throughout the senator's New Hampshire visit. "Obama has demonstrated to the people of New Hampshire that he's a top-tier candidate."

I hope you're correct about NH but I'm not so sure. So many NH towns have mortgaged themselves deeply for brick and mortar schools and continue to drive up property taxes. This plays right into Democrat hands and they dangle income taxes in front of people promissing property tax relief. Of course only a fool believes that will happen but my experience is that people often want to be fooled. Blame it on the immigrants from Massachusetts, blame it on increased population...whatever. I sadly don't think NH will ever "go back".

It won't be the new media that turns on Osama Obama...it will be the Clinton machine. She will attempt to destroy anyone who gets in her way.No way...she helped create Obama and she will place him on the ticket. It's Edwards who will be destroyed.

I'm waiting to see how he does on his listening tour. I'm sure he will hear plenty. He will probably get an ear full.
Friends, Romans, countrymen......
[I can joke about it because I, too, was kidded about over-sized ears in junior high school. lol. I survived it. Obamasama will, too.]

Actually, a representative-elect from Exeter (a guy originally from Mass named--guess what?--KENNEDY) has already proposed it. He recognizes it is "political suicide" but even HE can't promise property taxes will come down or even stay the same. Frankly, what's needed is tax breaks (property, etc) to get a better manufacturing base into NH and to quit depending on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a cash cow--it ain't gonna last forever. TOWNS need to put a cap on the amount of increases that can be passed on the property owners. Can the state enforce something like that? I've only lived here a few months but from what I'm seeing there is a significant disconnect between the state/local level and the state really can't tell the towns what to charge or cap taxes, etc. FWIW--I gave up buying that, "It's for the CHILDREN!!!" crap a long time ago--I had that card played enough in CA and saw that it never did get to those for whom it was intended.

I was being sarcastic, of course. Then again, could have been a younger version of Lewinsky.

This guy could never take being President, last week there was an article about Maureen Dowd commenting about his ears and he practically flipped out saying all this stuff how he went through hell in school about his ears. To me his ears don`t seem that bad, but if just being teased about his ears drive him nuts, then how`s he going to take it when every little nuance, every little detail about him is critiqued day in day out by the press? Even though he`s a Dimorat and the MSM will kiss his butt, he still will be savaged on every little thing about his appearance, the way he talks, his ears, his name etc etc...A guy like this would end up in a straight jacket before he even got to his second debate.

Regarding the State and Town relationship... recently the State angered many of the NH towns in the Lakes Region because they sent out boat registration forms WITH return envelopes directed to the State this year. When a boat owner registers with the town, the town gets a cut. If the boat owner registers directly with the State, the State gets it all. In their defense, the State maintains that they provide much of the on-lake services and the town only provides administrative services. I haven't decided yet with whom I'm going to register my boat this year. ;-)

Having this guy as their nominee would be a great way to push the country back to the Republicans. Go for it Dims!

Barack Obama is from start to finish, a media creation. The perfect Oprah candidate. Given the shallowness of a great many voters, that can be problematic.

Not Maine, that's for sure. It's pretty, sure--but the taxes there make CA look like a free state.
And yeah, I know it costs a healthy hunk of coin to register your car in NH, but it could be a heck of a lot worse.
Back O/T--does ANYONE seriously think Osama Obama (thanks, Swimmer) will have anywhere near these kind of polling numbers in six weeks, let alone six months from now? Voters have notoriously short memories--and that can be a bad thing too (read: keep putting back Che-Porter in 2008, 2010, etc)...

does ANYONE seriously think Osama Obama (thanks, Swimmer) will have anywhere near these kind of polling numbers in six weeks, let alone six months from now?Look at who was just elected Gov of Mass? Patrick stayed aloof the entire election and was elected by being a "nice guy" who was unthreatening. That kind of "above it all" strategy can work especially if the media goes along with it...and they will with pretty-boy Obama.

More than that. Corburn is a nice guy and nice guys finish last. The Repubs took it for granted our two reps would win, and the new hippie rep Porter has no record except for working hard. She should be easy to beat.
Hodes is a slick commie who worked as a lawyer for SC Judge Suoter, famous for government taking your property for private business can build a mall. This where Hodes is venerable.
Hell I have a board of selectmen who refuse to follow the RSA's (Law) and sign checks outside of public meetings. If the NH AG agrees with me that will end soon.
Is there a NH ping list on the forum?

True--but his colors (no pun intended) are coming out already vis-a-vis his backing off removing tolls on the MA Pike, etc.
Then again, MA keeps putting in Barney Frank, the Swimmer, Jon Carry, etc. Nothing they do surprises me anymore.

If there isn't, there should be. I'm not sure how to start one but if there is or one needs to be formed, count me in. 2008 is coming fast and THIS primary is gonna mean something for BOTH parties.

Unions are the culprit. We need school vouchers..that will break to unions and cut taxes. We have the now famous "view tax" which means if you are surrounded by 100' trees and and see anything, you are taxed at one level, if an ice storm knocks all the trees down, and now you can a mountain on the far side of the mall....you are correct.. you taxes just went up. We have a blind property owner who is fighting this. This is what commies do to you.
