"Oversize clothes should have obesity helpline numbers sewn on them to try and reduce Britain's fat crisis, a leading professor said today.
And new urban roads should only be built if they have cycle lanes, according to Naveed Sattar, Professor of Metabolic Medicine at the University of Glasgow
He is calling for more government intervention with a central agency set up to deal with the problems of obesity.
Britain's fat problem is so acute that it could even bankrupt the health system if nothing is done. "

And with that, I'm off and running! (don't need the dog before sunset) Be back in 45!
I'm paying about 60 buckaroos a month for my national Crunch membership... that ain't too expensive. And a gym is way more effective than a home set. Why? Well, it motivates to exercise amongst like-minded people.
Mockery makes fat people fatter... and the mocker a holier-than-thou snob.
Education and encouragement helps people lose weight, not putting an ad in their clothes. The ad is tantamount to mockery, IMO.
I think we should go back to stocks; they should work perfectly - after a few weeks or months the fat guy gets skinny enough to free himself and goes on about his way.
True, mocking ain't cool... sometimes being an arse is just too tempting.
That is EXACTLY my view.
When all we have is thin people, I will be very scared.
My pants have a warning as is. I no longer shop at Bugle Boy, I have to wear Tuba Boy.

Keep eating!!!!!! Please keep eating. Then maybe the liberals won't force national health care on us.
And remember, once they take away your freedom to be fat, you'll have no freedoms left.
It depends on the person. The problem with gym is you have to go to it, which provides a ready made excuse, a home set is there all the time. Of course a home set becomes kind of like furniture and therefore ignorable (who really pays attention to their coffee table). Everybody has to figure out their own plan of action that best suits their personality and the structure of their life.
YES! Higher taxes for non-veterans, motorcycle riders, boaters - skiers - hikers all of whom may need Coast Guard or Park Ranger services, oh and climbers and sky divers. Tax smokers, people with DUI's or speeding tickets. Those with low IQ's are always a problem, I suggest anyone under 130 but could settle for 110.
Hell tax people who will not allow drilling and want the rest of us to support them with our resources - California, Oregon, Washington, Florida, most of New England.
This is great, let me think up some more.
"WARNING - Having children with this individual might result in a lower standard of living for your offspring. Proceed with extreme caution."
IMHO, we leave people alone too much today. When people are teased (not humiliated) many times they choose to do something about whatever they are being teased about. It also 'toughens' a person and forces them to deal with personal issues. Lack of ridicule or teasing removes stigma. Without stigmatization of any kind, unhealthy situations are allowed to continue and worsen. Lack of stimga also creates people that are thin skinned and cannot deal with criticism, because they have never encountered it growing up. After a generation or so of under stigmatizing certain things, you are left with a society that gets all up in arms whenever something is said that offends them and they want the courts to tell the person they find offensive to say 'I'm sorry' in one way or another. I checked my 'handy-dandy pocket edition' of the U.S. Constitution, and nowhere did I find the right to 'not be offended.' I know that I am going to get flamed for stating this, but please no one tease me!
But I thought smokers were the ones resposible for the rise in heath care costs /sarc. I predicted this would happen.
Perhaps the problem is the healthcare system itself.
It would be a damn good system if no one ever got sick.
OBTW I notice that the same medical folks that complain about smokers and drinkers and overeaters promote Homosexual activity, go figure.
3 cheers!
First, weight is not the only indicator for health....
Second, living off Slim-fast will kill you....balanced healthy meals (just like mom said) will ensure health...
I'm a 6'0", 202lb male which would by all health and insurance standards be overweight. However, I lift weights and run 6 days a week with a very low body fat ratio and a 33" waist.
BTW, On average I eat 6 small balanced meals a day (which is tough with work).
This may not extend my life but odds are it will and any time I spend on earth I should be healthy and not infirmed.
Let's just tattoo them with a Scarlet "F".
All has to do with the luxury of cheap food. Restaurants compete by jacking portion sizes as food gets cheaper, not wanting to slash prices and hurt their revenue stream. Want people to get slimmer? I suggest a severe and prolonged recession. That will help. Victims of our own success.
"The problem with gym is you have to go to it, which provides a ready made excuse, a home set is there all the time."
Yup, and you have to waste gasoline and extra time to get there and back. Plus the enviro's would point out you're now shooting more CO into the air.
As long as it didn't require a year contract it might be doable. But I may well be relocating in less than a year.
More Fat = More Soylent Green
