One vote isn't going to make a difference for a controversial nominee. In fact, a one vote majority in the senate doesn't mean much beyond the power to subpoena and harass executive branch employees.

Actually one vote would be the difference!!!
Schumer has said they wont allow another Roberts even out of the committee under democrat control.The one vote would be the difference in giving Republicans the judiciary committee back.

It's all about the control of the committees. After the power-sharing debacle, I would hope that the GOP doesn't fall for that again. A 50-50 Senate puts our side in control.
