Now let me get this straight. You, in your experience as a weapons expert doubt a 9mm makarov round, fired at point blank range would have trouble penetrating the skull? I suppose when the NKVD gave the noodle they also pistol whipped the poor guys whenm the round bounced off.

Cut out the nonsense! The issue was Anna Polikovskaya being shot in the face or back of the head. She was shot in the face with a 9X18 Makarov. It clearly would penetrate the skull, but the kinetic energy for this round is only slightly better than the .380 ACP. I agree exit wounds are larger, but with either the .380 or Makarov round it is not going to destroy the face. Heck, the .380 most of the time will not completely traverse through a watermelon, and we are not talking about using a silencer, which slows the round down considerably. Add a silencer on the Mararov, and you will likely slow it down by half.

Guess what the favorite assasin weapon of the mob is? It's a 22 cal fired with a silencer at point blank. They penetrate with no problem. The REASON they use that cal is because unlike larger calibers they DO tend to stay put in the head and just kind of bounce around inside.

You're kidding? Special Ops never use a Ruger with a suppressor. :) However, you are only partially right regarding the reason. The sound from a 22 LR can be suppressed more than any other round.

Yes, you have seen hundreds of gunshot wounds to the head, and some were .380 ACP. I suspect some went through the head. HOWEVER, I seriously doubt you have seen either a .380 ACP or Makarov round exit a head fired from a pistol using a silencer. It ain't gonna happen. the point regarding Anna Polikovskaya being shot in the face stands.
