Minuteman group releases financial information (Simcox-Minuteman)

An Arizona civilian border patrol group has released financial records to answer questions about how the nonprofit spends contributions, but some former Texas members said they still aren't sure where the money goes.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps collected more than $54,000 in registration fees for background checks but spent only about $1,000 for that purpose last year, according to an IRS form and audit report released by group leader Chris Simcox.

The group raised more than $418,000, mostly through contributions, and spent nearly $450,000, including about $280,000 for "program services" and $145,000 on fundraising.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps patrols the border and reports illegal immigrants to authorities. It is different from the Minuteman Project, which also focuses on illegal immigration.

Simcox defended the spending on the group's Web site, saying that its financial state was "much better than most first-year startup national organizations." He criticized the media for "egregiously false" reporting.

But questions about finances and other concerns have led some members to quit the group. Among those was Bill Parmley, the former head of the group's Texas chapter, who left in July 2005.

"There were just too many irregularities," Parmley said. "I just didn't want to be involved in something like that."

Kim Fromme, former director of operations for the group's Texas chapter, quit in February over concerns about where the money was going.

"It didn't go down to the border, that's for sure," Fromme said.

So, AOW, how much are they paying YOU to carry their water for them on FR?

Will it show up in the audit sheets or will it be covered in "administrative" expenses?

Now just what were this 'professional services'.... LOL

I wonder how much of it constituted (well-laundered) payments to spammers of conservative news forums.

Tripe? Hardly. More like trying (and failing) to find honesty in those that will be tied to the entire conservative cause by their actions.....

This issue isn't about whether or not I called him a fraud. I have trouble believing statements he's made in the past about the MCDC's finances when the forms themselves tell a different story.

You may think I believe he's a fraud, I believe he's a liar.

Search under Simcox in the keyword.

Proves nothing. You're entirely evading the issue. The issue is the discrepencies in the audits, which has been Seper's point all along.

But if you want to make it about FReepers accusing Simcox of being a fraud and Seper's journalistic integrity, riddle me this FRiend: Why hasn't Simcox granted an interview since Seper's series columns went to print in July '06? Used to be he was on with Hannity at the border every night.

Mr Ringknocker,

You are all too concerned about "image", when taxpayers of Arizona have to pick up a bill of between 1 and 3 Billion a year to subsidize your new "Rat" voters and slaves.

Moderates and RINOs are dooming any chance of conservatives returning to DC for 15-20 years.

How much did the DoD pay to secure the border with Syria, Kosovo, Egypt, and Korea? Our legislators piss and moan about having a secure border and have not taken action in 20 years.

When someone "volunteers" and spends thier own time and money are not complaining, the individual who has been requoted since July has been explained as a whiner, You continue to harp on this. Dont you have anything better to do Mr Rino?

Why grant interviews to someone who will not print the truth?

I can think of several people on FR who are likely being paid to post such as the member who does nothing but post Tancredo press releases.

You saying Simcox is a fraud? You can't have it both ways. You've just got done saying people have accused Simcox of something he's not, and then say Seper is a fraud, when Seper has reported the same things Simcox has said to Dobbs, Hannity, Colmes, and Rush Limbaugh. Are they frauds too? Afterall, it's widely known Hannity and Dobbs have been carrying Simcox's water over this one issue alone.

Non-sequitor. Apparently you can't answer an honest question when it's posed to you.

I have answered you,...

Evasive tactics don't qualify. Neither do non-sequitor's.

What's the problem bud

You have the gall to call me "bud" before issuing a non-sequitor. I'm getting the impression you're just a punk hiding behind a keyboard.

There. Takes two to tango.

In May 2005 the registration fee was $100, that didn't sit well with cleared volunteers of the Minuteman Project "Jim Gilchrist" so it was lowered to $50. We, the Texas Minutemen never charged for our background checks which cost, $25 for a basic national report. We waived the background check if the person had a PPO, PI, Security License and or CHL. Anyone of these waived the background check, if you're from Texas you should understand why. MCDC changed also to waive background checks as we did.

I believe this should be a lesson learned to never allow groups like MCDC has helping them to be involved in our grassroot efforts. While I don't believe Chris seen this coming, it's a lesson we've learned from his mistake.

Make no mistake these companies are in the business to make money and they do! They also work hard to prevent others that aren't in their click. Would you like and example?
