Is this what MAF were trailing yesterday? If so, although it is a wonderful human story, I can't see how it will effect foreign policy as suggested yesterday.

Yep it is. The reference to foreign policy is the war on Iraq following the news of Saddam's nuclear program (New York Times) and Senator Kerry's remarks (which are being rebutted by the GSFamilies in Iraq as we speak).
