Actually, believe it or not, I think what happened was United States banned the shipment of oil to Japan because of their aggression in China.

I still have the impression that it was metal.......however, either case presents a debate as to what constitutes an act of war......

Hey, you might be right about the metal. It may have been a basket of commodities. After all, Japan has little or no natural resources and everything has to be shipped in. But the point and irony of the whole thing was United States used to be the largest driller of oil...
