Fox NYC reports two construction worker saw plane trying to avoid hitting the building and make it to the river (it was flying west to east).

My latest opinion: tragic accident.

That's interesting considering the plane hit the building dead-center. If the pilot was trying to avoid the building, you'd think the plane would clip it, or impact off-center.

Yeah, apparently the pilot sent a distress call about fuel (I cannot imagine what went through his mind if he ran out of fuel for some reason over a city as large as NYC - Central Park would be about it).

When I first heard this, a lady was talking about "terrorists probably did it", and all I could do was shake my head - the fact that people automatically assume that (hopefully most don't at FR, but some do, I know), means the terrorists have people like that scared - that's a mental victory for the terrorists, unfortunately.

My first thought was, given the time of day and the building, it was an accident - a residential building at that time would have few, if any people, as well as it was a fairly small aircraft.

My second thought is, somebody is going to go after General Aviation again, just like they did after 9/11.
