You'll have to get pretty far out of town: either Fairbanks or Anchorage is nearly completely Seattle already, and the Liberals are electing their Liberal mayors, etc. The real Alaska is someplace way off the road you have to fly to in a four-seater with tundra tires.

We almost got stationed in Bethel Alaska. The promise of being assigned a double-wide was not appealing. I don't think you can drive there...wonder why you would want to.

My brother used to be a welder at a oil refinery. When the pipeline was started they came in to hire welders, one of his buddies went, great money.

He spent next to nothing and sent all his cash home to his wife to bank, he planned to retire after 5 years.

When he came home his wife had sold his house, closed all his bank accounts, and left without a trace with over $400,000...lol.
