Did AOL have that feature in 2003?
I don't know. I only know that I'll sit and talk to my sister via IM and boom, my cell phone is full of what we just talked about...all her IM's saved, one by one. Thing is, it only saves what she says to ME, not what I say to her.
As to when AOL had this feature, well I don't know. I don't even know how to stop it now!

AIM used to store messages in a database on the local hard drive. Anyone with access to the databse cold open and piece together message taffic. I don't use AIM and haven't had to attempt to read the data for quite some time. Maybe AIM is better at security now...
