Agreed. It was kind of a cheap shot the way the media played this picture. Of course, the French politicians suckered everyone with their bold talk and subsequent backdown. What have become of the genes from all the French fighters from history? Lafayette where have you gone? Napolean, where are you?

Very true. France's problem is a lack of leadership and resolve at the top. French soldiers are actually very good when led by able commanders (typically British and American) and not undermined by the politicians.

Yes. And maybe some of their military leaders.
Anyone doubting the individuals in the French military needs to read "The Guns of August".

Good soldiers, poorly-equiped and poorly-led too much of the time.
