I have a tough time believing even hamas or hezbulla would be dumb enough to kidnap an American there with all that's happening on purpose. I suspect you're right about someone wardering off the reservation on this one.

The again, part of this may stem from frustration that Hamas and its ilk can't spin the media like it used to. Think that fauxtography scandal of a few days ago. Not to mention the risibility of that video they've been passing off of bombing victims. Maybe Hamas is trying to get to the messenger in another way.
If so, Hamas should heed Twain's advice about not picking fights with folks who buy their ink by the barrel.
