Major Owens and Code Pink (Gallery Pass For Iraqi PM visit)

Major Owens and Code Pink

The gallery pass for the Code Pink leader who disrupted the speech by the Iraqi premier (see Michelle Malkin as well) was provided by New York's very own Congressman -- Major Owens from Brooklyn. The AP reports that the Iraqi PM:

was interrupted briefly by a shouting demonstrator wearing a pink T-shirt that read, "Troops Home Now." Medea Benjamin, 54, of San Francisco, is cofounder of the anti-war protesting group called CODEPINK.

Benjamin was lifted from her seat by officers and carried out of the House visitor's gallery, while al-Maliki paused and grimaced in irritation.

According to a GOP leadership aide, Benjamin was provided a gallery pass by Owens, who did not immediately return a call for comment. A spokeswoman for CODEPINK, which had been trying to meet with al-Maliki, said Owens' office had not been informed of any plans to disrupt the event.

What did Owen's office think Benjamin would do? Throw petals at the democratically elected leader of Iraq?

Curiously she wants Iraqi troops out of Iraq.

This guy should be brought up on ethics charges giving a pass to not only a Code Pinko but the leader of the group. There is no way that this Congressman did not know what her plans would be. The t-shirt should have been a hint.

Considering the state of NY and NYC in particular has been a constant target of terrorism, and continues to interest the terrorists, you'd kinda think the legislators there would be on the side of fighting terrorism--not encouraging it.

This Benjamin chick is the same maggot who was out in front of the Iraqi Embassy in DC with "Mother" Sheehan this week; Benjamin was also spotted doing the "Icky Shuffle" with Cynthia McKinney last week after Ms. McKinney's poor showing in her Democratic primary.

Major Owens should be ashamed of himself. But then, he's a maggot, too.

The Libs in NY think it is still 9/10.

So when money is cut because of this, they go whining like little girls that money is being taken from them. I don't blame the pols. I blame the people who keep electing them.

Don't know how to post pictures here, I have no server, will someone please post a picture of Major Owens . NO HE IS NOT A MAJOR, just a Major ......

I believe people who doing us wrong should have their photos posted everywhere, so we know who they are and if we do see them on the street someday, walk up to them and let them know to their face what we think of them without acting like Cindy Sheehan or some Dimmy.

"you'd kinda think the legislators there would be on the side of fighting terrorism--not encouraging it."

They are left-wing democrats they support the terrorist and want them to win this war. Just as the Mullah who was released from prison after being responsible for the bombing and killing of hundreds of Australians said when asked what the families of the victims should do in Australia he said "they should convert quickly". People do not understand that the Islamic radical terrorist say either convert of die.

CODEPINK is a supporter of terrorist and anyone else who is against the American people.

You overlooked the central rat thesis..... there is no connection between the occupation of Iraq and the war on terror.

Medea Benjamin (named herself after the woman in Greek mythology who killed her children ...her real name is Susie) disrupted Donald Rumsfeld's testimony, the Republican National convention, another Senate hearing, and now this.

Since she is a habitual disruptor of public events, particularly Congress, I think she should be spotted and either seated with security OR prohibited from entering.

I am tired of her getting in to these events to make an embarassing spectacle. She was a guest of the Congress, and has abused that privilege. And Owens should be censured for giving her a pass.

Is she one of his constituents? If not, then is should be a slamdunk case that his intent was to disrupt the event through a surrogate. He should be censured by Congress but the race card will get in the way.

Isn't he the nutjob who offered an impassioned defense of B.J. Klintoon several years ago in the form of a story from his childhood? That idiotic account of a big, scary storm and all the lil' chirren went into da house, etc.?

Complete maroon.

I agree. Medea is a "known" disruptor.

You're absolutely right! Thanks for reminding me of that gem!

Scarier yet is the fact that legions of dolts believed that tripe, and apparently still do...

Medea Benjamin is no crackpot but a hard core anti-capitalist.  A San Franciscan, who said her stay in Cuba "made it seem like I died and went to heaven," is a master organizer, fund-raiser and propagandist.  She is the founder of several anti-American, anti-corporation and anti-war groups, such as, Global Exchange, United for Peace and Justice and Code Pink.  This is one, very busy lefty.

Born Susan, she is a lifelong revolutionary who changed her name to Medea, after the mythical character who murdered her own children.  She authored the socialist utopian book "I, Senator", in which she claimed she "fought Ronald Reagan's illegal and immoral war against the Sandinistas in Nicaragua."  Benjamin was a principal organizer of the 1999 Seattle riots in which some 50,000 protesters wreaked havoc and tried to shut down the World Trade Organization meetings.

Benjamin’s United for Peace and Justice was deliberately formed as a false public and moderate voice to shield the American Marxist movement previously represented by Ramsey Clark's  A.N.S.W.E.R., a communist front “anti-war” organization that was the brainchild of the Stalinist Workers World Party.

When A.N.S.W.E.R. showed its true colors at one too many anti-war rallies, the Organized Left became nervous, prompting the Benjamin to form United for Peace and Justice with fellow radical, Leslie Cagan, a Castro admirer who maintained her membership in the Communist Party USA even after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Benjamin wrote in The Nation magazine: “The most exciting aspect of the antiwar organizing has been its global reach. While in the anti-corporate globalization movement, we had already formed impressive ties with grassroots movements overseas, antiwar organizing has given us the opportunity to expand geographically to areas such as the Middle East, where we had less-developed contacts; to multiply our ranks with a dazzling array of new sectors, from city councils to women's and civil rights organizations such as NOW and the NAACP; and, most important, to merge the peace movement with the movement to fight corporate-dominated globalization.

Benjamin urges, “Let's channel the bursting anti-American sentiment overseas into targeted boycotts against corporations profiting from war. Let's launch global, grassroots campaigns to get the United States to sign on to international treaties and institutions such as the International Criminal Court and the Kyoto Protocol. Working with local communities where US troops are based, let's start a Bring All the Troops Home campaign to stop the expansion of US bases and start dismantling some of the hundreds of existing bases overseas.”

Her organization, Code Pink is the same group that champions military deserters, praying for the "people of Fallujah", placing the pre-war “human shields” in Baghdad and doling out $600,000 in aid to what they called "the other side."  Code Pink has primarily chosen women to lie to, taking advantage of the genuine concern that some homemakers and grandmas have about the Iraq war and using them to add voices at local protests.

Benjamin said of the $600,000 gift, "This is the positive face of the American people which we would like to show ... so that we are not looked at with animosity but with love. Our hearts go out to the people of Fallujah and to all the Iraqi people."

Benjamin was the driving force behind the the nation-wide March 2005, “The World Says End the War” march.  Benjamin and her cohorts, operating under her group United for Peace and Justice, has organized over 1,350 left-wing and radical groups, such as the Communist Party USA, the Marxist Feminist Lesbians, Punks For Peace, Queers for Peace and Justice, RANT (Root Activist Network of Trainers), the Ruckus Society, the Socialist Party USA and Cabbies Against Bush.

As a postscript, these "nation-wide" demonstrations ended up as a world-class failure.  The largest crowd in the country was in Chicago, with less than 5,000.  The San Francisco and LA demonstrations gathered around a thousand protesters.

So, when you see the news accounts of the “American people” marching to end the war in Iraq and whatever other loony notions they have, remember that 95% of the marchers are what Lenin called "useful idiots" and have no idea who organized them or why.

And up pops Cindy Sheehan.  Medea would make her a star.

According to ABC 7 News, current Democratic National Party Chair Howard Dean's organization Democracy for America is also involved, as is the more radical anti-war group Code Pink organized by San Francisco's Medea Benjamin.

Money donated through these groups and others is helping to pay for Gold Star families whose children have been killed in Iraq to attend anti-Bush protests.
