A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 7.19.06

Defying the will of Congress (remember these votes in November!), President Bush sent a veto message (read the president's message here), that he would not sign HR 810, the "Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act of 2005."

President Bush addressed the situation in Lebanon while meeting with members of Congress in the White House.

Secretary of State Rice met at the State Department today: New Zealand's Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peres, and Belgium's Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht. Next week she is scheduled to attend Southeast Asia's top security forum.

Everyone needs to watch this entire event. The President's speech was magnificent and God-honoring, and he had trouble maintaining his composure.

God BLESS this man!

THANKS for the Dose, Gretchen!

Our two Senators voted against this bill, kitkat.

Mr Ohio checked that out yesterday by calling their offices.

(One reason why a RINO is a better choice than a RAT any day).

Many couples who go for IVF treatments and have a baby (or two) on their first try do give the extra embryos for adoption. The adoptive mother carries the baby to term.
Because of the cost of each treatment, and the likelihood of failure, they usually retrieve as many as 8 eggs at a time. But they don't implant all of those at once. Multiple births can be a problem. So, a couple who has several children and unused embryos has a choice - let another infertile couple have them; discard them, freeze them "in case"; let them be used for research.

For goodness sakes...I LOVE the "not spare parts" comment. I'm so happy he said that...I could dance and twirl.

One of the things the media usually fails to take into consideration on issues is the overall importance of an issue to a significant group of voters.

Take for example stem cell research. It is, for a significant number of voters the, single issue that can decide their vote. It works like this.. a candidate and the voter could agree on 50 separate issues, but if the candidate is for stem cell research and the voter is against it, the voter will not vote for that candidate.

Perhaps for as many as 70 percent of the voters stem cell research is just one of many issues that the voter considers. But for those single issue voters, no Republican in anything less than a very liberal state, can afford to support stem cell research.

But that 30 percent are not all Republicans. About 10 of the 30 percent are Democrats. Stem Cell Research, pro abortion, pro gun control can cost Democrats races in states like Ohio.

DeWine for example can vote for amnesty for mexican workers. It is not a political stance that translates to many single issue voters.

But the issues I mentioned control the the votes of many single issue voters. Even Democrast have to be very careful.

Single issue voters do not need to be a majority.. A minority on both parties is enough to cause candidate in both parties dance to their tune.

Thanks. I knew treatment often meant multiple embryos, I just never heard of adopting them.

It sounds like a good deal all around - everybody gets a baby!

I left out the junior Senator from NC, RICHARD BURR.

I am so disappointed in him.

As a swipe at those who always say Elizabeth Dole is a RINO AND PRO-CHOICE I say pfffffttttt...she voted Nay just as I knew she would. (Wish I could say the same for my Senator, KBH).
