Mike, on one of the interviews I saw this morning, this woman said she was in Lebanon to "help" because the world community was not "doing enough" for them. NOW she was complaining that the US is too slow to get them out. I don't mean to sound heartless, but my mama used to tell me, "Well, you got yourself into this mess, now get yourself out." SOME of these people (I'm sure not all) are there because they ignored what's going on around them--now our military has to risk lives and equipment to get them out.

Not to mention we've got to spend millions to evacuate these people. Charity begins at home, or at least in a non-war zone where you have no ability to extracate yourself if it hits the fan.

Anyway, look for the media to feature these people front and center. It's this summer's Katrina-like assault on the administration. The media has just been dying for something they can use to attack the administration on and unfortunately for them so far Mother Nature hasn't complied since there has only been one tropical storm so far. So they are looking for something in the Lebanon situation to use to bludgeon Bush and they've found it with this one. I saw on this on the NBC Nightly News and CNN last night and I didn't watch either for long before seeing such a story. I'm sure the others are doing the same. I'm sure Anderson Cooper, Shep Smith and Joe Sacrborough will be in Beirut any day now weeping for all the poor American backpackers the administration has so cruely left behind.
