In Houston, $430K would get you 5000+ square feet, a three-car garage, an in-ground pool with hot tub, and then some. ..and then some; yeah, no trees, two seasons, hurricanes, flooding. Texas is cool, but there's a reason why everything is cheap in H-town.

Yes but in Houston, you have no zoning laws (meaning a toxic waste dump or strip club could move in next door) and schools filled with Katrina refugees, illegal aliens, and the children of said strippers...
