I would point out the rather obvious fact that Google purchases their image data from widely used commercial sources for such images that anyone can purchase. It isn't like Google has spyplanes or satellites mapping the globe.
Unfortunately, you're right. If it was otherwise, the Iraqi Ozark Reactor solution could be on the cards, and it would make the things much easier.
