I started out as a tiny, pretty snowball Kitten
And I knew right from the start that you were smitten
With the way I held myself with grace and poise

Though when I got into my Curious mode, I could make some noise
Poking around the kitchen. Under the sinks and insides cupboards dark and cozy
I was just being Kittenish and nosy

As pots and pans and odd shaped cans
Tipped over and scared me half to death!
While I dashed and hid under the couch and tried to catch my breath

I remember the time that you were so sad
When you hugged me close even if I was bad
And told me that your Mother had gone away

I stayed close to you through long nights and days
Cheering you up without any doubts
Until I helped you finally cry your eyes out





Though those times I've grown into a gorgeous tawny Cat
Taller, wiser, perhaps wider; though never fat!
Having adapted to your eccentric ways as you have to mine

Aware that each of us sometimes need Private Time and Space
We both attend our Neutral Corners with equally Feline grace
Tending to our hobbies, moods and foibles too many to trace

Admiring beautifully slow sunsets while appointments you align
Knowing that the truce is over when you feel me lick your face
Or I hear the Kitchen Can Opener make its familiar whine

You know I love to help you choose a mate when men drop by to dine!
Knowing that if we don't hit it off, he's hardly worth your time
When selecting a Cat~Person over a Dog~Person is hardly a crime

I knew you had high standards and style since I was a ball of fluff
We've both changed and adapted to each other through good times and rough
When this match made in Heaven is more than enough!
