Why is Ann Coulter right and this guy is wrong?

Because it's not what they say, it's who says it that makes it right. That's how it is for too many on FR, sadly.

I can't believe how much the blame-it-all-on-Clinton people here resemble the blame-it-all-on-Bush people on DU. I mean, I didn't like Clinton either but he didn't singlehandedly destroy the Free World as we know it. He was just a bad president who I disagreed with.

They're both wrong. Rall lost his job at the Washington Post over that cartoon.

Coulter is a free-lancer, mostly, so there's nobody to fire her.

He's not.

It's a good question. I'll give it a shot.

Rall's cartoon seems to say that, based on their media appearances, the 911 widows and widowers were greedy, shallow, and undeserving of sympathy. The cartoon offends with a very broad brush. It criticizes people who have done nothing wrong, people who deserve respect for their losses.

Coulter directs her scorn at a much smaller target group, specific individuals who have acted in a way that deserves to be criticized. The Jersey widows who cynically used 911 as a springboard to advance their political agendas are similar to Cindy Sheehan, who parlayed her son's death into a career as the globe-trotting Mama Moonbat.

If Rall's cartoon had been targeted at specific individuals, real people who had behaved as he described, it would have been a sad commentary, but not offensive.
