Rabelais certainly didn't take that advice, since he thought nothing of writing about imaginary giants pissing on Notre Dame cathedral. Citing him in defense of decorum is priceless.

Well, nobody as yet has accused him of not understanding the uses of sarcasm and irony. And we are to learn from him at least that much. BTW, his giants were pissing not ON but FROM Notre Dame cathedral, upon the assembled crowd which did not deserve any better.
