English schools dumb down Shakespeare

Shakespeare:

Tybalt: What, art thou drawn among these heartless hinds? Turn thee, Benvolio, look upon thy death.

Benvolio: I do but keep the peace, put up thy sword, Or manage it to part these men with me.

CGP (modern-day UK-speak -- ed.):

Tybalt: Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough.

Benvolio: Leave it out, big nose."

They work just fine on the page. There are things you would never hear in a performance that come across in print.
