It comforts me to know that you will stay with us. It will be like having a little of Maggie still here.

Steve has spent time with us in the past and I feel like I know him pretty well. He probably thinks I'm such a selfish person, because when he called yesterday and gave me the sad news, we talked a little about plans or lack thereof, and I asked him to tell Jen to send me the music box that I sent Maggie. Afterward I felt awful and shamed. How could I have been thinking of myself when he had just lost his mother. I am confessing this in public because I need for God and Steve to forgive me. It was horribly insensitive. My brain was not functioning obviously.

I can't seem to stop crying, especially when I read your posts. I'm happy that you can feel the joy of Maggie's homegoing. It stinks to be left behind though. God be with you to comfort and guide.

Love, Nan

Dearest "Aunt" Nan,

There is really no need for apology. You were hurting as much as I and, I'm sure, were simply trying to reach out to grasp a tangible part of her as we all are at this time. That's not selfishness to me, but rather an expression of your love for Mom.

Thank you for being such a wonderful "sistah" to her.

Love,

Steve

LadyX has passed

I will confess I bought a little pillow and had not sent it. It was to be a homecoming present, with some other little ditties.

The pillow had the words "Don't Fence Me In" and while I am so sorry I didn't get it mailed, I intend to hold on to it and let it, and her, be my guidon for the rest of my life. She gave more to me in a very short time than most folks could give in a lifetime. This one woman gave an entirely new dimension to the words, Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Semper Fi, Maggie... Semper Fi.

Oh, give me land, lots of land under starry skies above, Don't fence me in. Let me ride through the wide open country that I love, Don't fence me in. Let me be by myself in the evenin' breeze, And listen to the murmur of the cottonwood trees, Send me off forever but I ask you please, Don't fence me in.

Just turn me loose, let me straddle my old saddle Underneath the western skies. On my Cayuse, let me wander over yonder Till I see the mountains rise.

I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences And gaze at the moon till I lose my senses And I can't look at hovels and I can't stand fences Don't fence me in.

Just pulled in from three days on the road from Florida to Illinois. I was so sad to click on to freep and to read the news about Lady X.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this noble warrior. She fought the good fight. Now she's at peace in the bosom of our Lord.
