House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-L.I.) said he'd fight President Bush's plan to give illegal aliens a path to citizenship........
Bush will propose sending National Guardsmen to guard the Mexican border and giving a chance at citizenship for millions here illegally when he speaks to the nation at 8 p.m. tomorrow.........
"I will oppose any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country............that's amnesty, and it's a magnet for more illegal aliens," said King.
"I give the president credit for proposing using the military - and he's the first president to do it - but citizenship for illegals is still amnesty"...........

Maybe we can help bring them together:

The number of people supposedly eligible for amnesty keeps increasing.
This country could probably swallow a few million with some pain, but Heritage is speculating based on the language of the Senate Bill upwards of 50 million. This country simply CANNOT handle those numbers. That is a deal breaker RIGHT THERE. Besides which, we don't know how many we have. Shouldn't we have those numbers first? Even with current large estimates There is a huge difference between 12 million and 50 million. Nor is this all about Hispanics. What about illegal aliens from Russia? Europe? The Middle east? They can focus on Mexico all they like, but we have people from all countries abusing our laws. Are they included in the estimates too? If not, tack on more.
No, I reject amnesty and I STRONGLY urge the administration to step down from that proposal. I KNOW this is a trial balloon, and I'm giving fair warning to an administration I've supported and respect and still do EXCEPT on this issue. Do not propose guest workers. Do not propose amnesty. FOCUS on border security FIRST. Any other ideas you have will NOT be acceptable even for DISCUSSION until a) Our laws are enforced and b) you win people's trust that you are committed to respect of our borders. If you bring this up as the trial balloon suggests, I won't be trying to block the backlash. I'll be amongst the voices screaming "Hell No".
And I WILL NOT be voting GOP if this goes through. I'm not voting GOP now. I will reverse that decision if given good reason to do so. But scare tactics about Dems don't appeal to me.
As for King? We'll see if the House will back up their strong rhetoric. Their futures depend upon it.
THE Mantra that you will hear tomorrow about the putting the National Guards on the Border is that THE NATIONAL GUARD IS SPREAD TOO THIN!
That's why we need a wall

(already hearing it...)
If Peter King is serious, just have him send a couple of tractor-trailers and 50 ICE agents up to Van Cortland Park this afternoon, and ask for the Gaelic Football match.
GOP wins in November, in a landslide.
Bush sends the National Guard home in December.
Are people so stupid that they will fall for this ruse?

I am.
I'd fall for that one.
In the meantime while there mouths are running a few more thouand are here.
BTTT
"Isn't it time people quit throwing these emotional hissy fits because they do not get only 100% of what they want all the time in politics?"
LOL, someone should have told that to the pro-amnesty crowd and the illegals before May 1. Their Mexican flag-waving, 'demands' for citizenship when they dont deserve it, and boycotts have backfired bigtime.
Give illegals Amnesty and they and the OBL get everything they want, don't they?

ME TOO ... SIGN ME UP.
I know this for a fact: A Democrat Congress will send a McCain-Kennedy bill to the President to sign... increased GOP control and we will get more like HR4437.
So if you dont want amnesty, push for GOP control of Congress, it's our only hope.
And NG is a stop-gap anyway, the real test is building more permanent barriers and having interior immigration law enforcement.
On Fox right now:
"If troops head south, does the Dow head north?"
We've finally got someone from the People's Republic of NY State fighting for us. Peter King deserves a thousand kudos for doing the right thing.
Amen. I notice Rudy G is resoundingly silent on this.
It is amazing how many NYState reps are silent on this.
I think King is on our side, Reynolds is with Bush, the rest are very quiet.
