U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

Hey BB I have already stated I don't have all the answers, absent that, you have to be realistic about third parties. Their history is to split the vote.

You guys are all over it!

(sorry, I just woke up, and haven't had my coffee yet)

However, I just wrote my congresscritter, J.D Hayworth:

Dear Congressman Hayworth,

Question about this disturbing article:

http://www.dailybulletin.com/news/ci_3799653

Please read. What gives?

WHY IS OUR BORDER PATROL BEING CONTROLLED BY MEXICO???

we are irate, J.D. Mexico is doing everything short of declaring "official" war on us, and we US Citizens have absolutely HAD IT with Mexico.

They are a hostile country, they are NOT our friends, and it's been evident for decades.

Enough is enough, J.D. Please take that message back to Washington, because we WILL defend our borders (and ourselves) if the Gov't. won't.

We have had it.

Sincerely,

(me.)

Re your #51 -

I wonder how long it's going to be before the Mexican Military or some drug cartel (how do we tell the difference?) sends a covert hit team to a border point IDd to them by their loyal allys in our own corrupt government where the MM are set up, and massacres them just to "teach Gringo a lesson"?

If that happens, I suspect that gloves will come off and things might get equally dangerous for invaders, MM, and any Federal officials of either government who try to get in the way down there.

Then Bush WILL send the Military to the border - tasked to suppress recalcitrant AMERICANS who have the audacity to attempt to defend them!

Armed insurrection won't be far off if that happens, I opine, and the Old Tree of Liberty will get a good manuring.
What do you suppose THAT will do to W's "ratings", eh?

I blame George Bush for this crap. He has ordered the Border Patrol policies to be a farce. He has ordered our borders to be wide open. F your amnesty!! I'm mad as can be at this Mexico ass kissing.

George Bush only appoints compliant hacks and stooges to run INS, ICE and the Border Patrol. Michelle Malkin has written about them. So I blame the man at the top for this outrage

Here's the White House fence. George Bush keeps out all intruders

I know, I know! About a third of what pubbies are doing makes me crazy but a third party will only split the vote.

A third party could have a sitting POTUS by 2012 easy. It can be done and it has been done. Fall of the Whigs rise of the GOP. We may be fixing to see political history in the making. A political shake-up unseen since the 1860's. A return to traditional Constitutional based government or a deeper fall into Socilalism. Time to ignore the party's and listen to the canidates. I vote on the side of Constitution.

The problem is that the US Government has become an "invisible empire", not in the klan sense, but in the Roman sense. They have unlimited resources to put down unrest. I just don't know how to fight the system. I wish I did.

If you vote D or R in 08 you are the problem not the solution

That's a great slogan but when push comes to shove do you have a spare 500 million in your hip pocket to go up against the entrenched parties already securely in power?

Or is this just an exercise in fantasy land? Reality of the situation catches up to all of us sooner or later.

To: From many - one.

I have to say that having Bush tied up in knots by investigations and impeachment proceedings next term is not altogether an unattractive option.

I heard of a guy (caller to KSFO) who writes checks to The Minutemen. Every time the RNC sends him a fund raiser he replies with a copy (in their postage paid envelope) of the latest check, with a nice note explaining that when the administration starts to control the boarder, he might start sending the RNC checks instead...

"I wish I had the answer to every screw-up our side engages in but I don't."

This one is easy. Enforce the law. What's so hard about that? If you refuse to pay your taxes that are funding this spy operation for the Mexican government guess what? This administration will enforce the law and take everything you have if they have to. That's all conservatives are asking enforce the damn laws!

The Mexican government is protecting the $20 billion a year the illegals loot from this country and send to Mexico.

A decent percentage of that money is paying for their former Presidents.

Five of them (and soon to be 6 with Fox) -- they EACH get $5 million a year for life!

What a corrupt country, sending us their impoverished many of whom we the US taxpayers support, while their rulers live like kings.

What a racket.

"At a time when millions of Mexicans survive on less than $2 per day, the government spends millions of dollars on former Presidents Luis Echeverría, Miguel de la Madrid, Carlos Salinas de Gortari, and Ernesto Zedillo. In 2002 it paid out some $5 million to each former chief executive in pensions, property-operation expenses, office equipment, travel, staff, and security."

but a third party will only split the vote.

If done right, however, it could turn out to be a good thing. The ole Southern Democrats were basically conservative. Add to those the conservative Republicans and Independents. The combination could be greater than the remaining left wacko Dems and progressive rino big-government-screw-the-little-guy Pubbies. It could result in a viable, signifcant, substantial 3rd party that is neither Democrat nor Republican, but is true conservative party.

You fight it at the ballot box, no other way is posible .... yet. Massive voter revolt, all but the kool-aid drinking D's, R's voting third party. It has happened before, it can happen again.
