The SSA informs employers if they have a SS#/name mismatch

Last year I got a letter from the IRS telling me that my 9 year old son's SSN was used on another tax return. Identity theft by somebody, possibly by an alien.

Last year I got a letter from the IRS telling me that my 9 year old son's SSN was used on another tax return.

And the pisser is they have that person's return address & employer (W2) & yer screwed.
