Brazil has successfully developed Ethanol as a vehicular fuel and by this time next year they will be totally energy independent.

Now, some may argue: Brazil? they must not have that many folks living there - Actually, they have approx 185 Million folks living there.

Some may also argue: Growing ethanol is EXPENSIVE: Actually, growing sugar (instead of corn in the US) is pretty cheap.

BTW, Brazil began this endeavor more than 10 years ago. Apparently, the Brazilians had a clue.

It is not that they don't have a lot of people, it is that so many of them cannot afford cars:

Brazil GDP Per Capita (PPP) $8,400 (2005 est.)
USA GDP PER Capita (PPP) $42,000 (2005 est.)

"Apparently, the Brazilians had a clue."

Yeah... right!!! They had to bungle the jungle to do it!!!

To hear the EnvironMentalistas tell it, they've probably killed off so much habitat that supported the plant and animal life that could have cured all disease in mankind and even created stronger, longer lasting orgasms in humans that ever thought possible!!! (In spite of the girl from Ipanemah's visage)

Now don't you feel ashamed in egging those slash and burn Brazilians on to make jungle alchohol just to burn in what Al Gore calls a bigger threat to humanity than nuclear bombs??? (the internal combustion engine)
