Looks like about 1700 hundred murdered in NYC in the same period.
The "Murder Rate per Capita" in NYC means nothing because most of the murders occur in Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, where the rates are astronomical.

We need to remember that NY City went for Kerry in 2004 by 86%. Why are these atrocities almost always commited in a Blue City?
When I started this, I speaking to slightly different point.
I do not disagree with you about reporting all of the story. Just looking forward to a point in time when color is not the determining factor, but rather one's behavior. I will reiterate my original thesis: Punks are punks regardless of skin color and regardless of where the live...although they do tend to congregate on the other side of the tracks. ; ).
Anyway, the thread has moved on so there is no further need for me to discuss the opening point. Have a happy Easter.
