Is it really all that hard to find a gun shop?

I don't think you understand the situation... The areas that WalMart is quitting gun sales in are also, very often, also devoid of gun shops as well.... for the same exact reasons that Wal-Mart is quitting.... gun sales regulations to death, pressure from liberals, etc. Although I'm no fan of Wal-Mart, I'm also not "boycotting" them either. But I do get aggravated when a business in the position Wal-Mart is in folding to anti-gun pressure (or any other anti-freedom cause). Does Wal-Mart sell "low end guns". Depends on your definitition - they sell Remington, Ruger, Weatherby (Vanguard - actually a Howa), Marlin, Charles Daly, Rossi, and occaisionally a few others. Wal-Mart does tend to sell the lower-end of these brands - Remington Model 70 ADL (or the new equivalent) and 710, Savage 110 Combo, etc. If Wal-Mart was going to abandon the 2nd Amendment, at least in some areas, then I wish they would be honest about it, and not lie about it (low sales). Where I live, it is a minimum of 35 miles to the nearest gun shop (other than Wal-Mart). Some areas it is much farther, and I live in a relatively gun-friendly state. People in far less gun-friendly states might be lucky to have a gun shop within 100 miles.... But they have a local Wal-Mart.

"Does Wal-Mart sell "low end guns".

I am not much into guns,(not much more then a 22) so I dunno. I was repeating what the anti-walmart crowd was saying.
It could be that the government red tape was more then they wanted to deal with.
If it is not so hard to sell guns there, Walmart would sell them, or someone would fill the niche.
