THIS is who we have to turn to?!

We have to be careful THIS is how Clinton got elected!

# 1 Conservatives point to Dean for significance of border issue - Conservatives in Congress say that Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean's new get-tough stance on illegal immigration shows how important the border-security issue could be in this year's elections.
Mr. Dean's advocacy of "tough border control" this week -- at an event at which the DNC chief outlined his party's November election strategy -- shows clearly that Mr. Dean has seen polls showing that Americans are fed up with the federal government's failure to secure the nation's borders, said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican.
"It's another indication of just how stupid the Republican Party is when they say we better not go after immigration as an issue, we better not go after border security as an issue," said Mr. Tancredo, a longtime advocate of immigration reform.
Mr. Dean apparently hopes to make an issue out of immigration this fall, Mr. Tancredo said. Other Republican conservatives also saw Mr. Dean's remarks as an election-year ploy.

# 2 I want security from all illegals - Scare-mongering columnist George Diaz -- "Raise Torch of Liberty, Not Riot Shields" -- warns us that we might see Nazi-like security police during an immigration demonstration on May 1. Nazi? C'mon. The Nazis killed 6 million innocent people. I want security from people -- Mexican or not -- who would harm us." Diaz also says we've lost our patience and memory regarding embracing the disenfranchised. Huh?

Senate candidate plans to walk along Mexican border - ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A Republican candidate for U.S. Senate plans to walk the roughly 180 miles of New Mexico's boundary with Mexico to call attention to what he says are failures by incumbent Sen. Jeff Bingaman to secure the border.
"We're starting from Arizona and walking to Texas," said David Pfeffer, a former Santa Fe city councilor who challenged Bingaman, D-N.M., to make the same walk. Pfeffer announced his 19-day "Walk the Line" campaign stunt on Thursday. He plans to begin Tuesday, carrying an American flag, and he hopes to sleep each night in a borrowed recreational vehicle.

# 7 Anti-immigration rhetoric could backfire for GOP

# 8 Meth trends continue to evolve - The federal government is especially interested in MS-13, a gang officials say is one of the most violent in the country. Clark hopes the federal government will see the threat of gang involvement in the meth trade as a national security threat, freeing money to target trafficking.

# 9 Gov´t labors to fight migrant smugglers - The industry is estimated to be worth US $10 billion a year, according to U.S. Customs officials. Sidling up to migrants who arrive at the Tijuana airport and cruising the streets in border towns, "coyotes" in gold chains and dark sunglasses openly find customers for nightly scrambles across the U.S. border.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Border Patrol is poised to become the federal government's largest law enforcement agency, but it's not clear that more agents have slowed illegal immigration. The Border Patrol will soon rival the FBI in terms of the number of agents each agency has in the field. By the end of September, the Border Patrol will have 12,100 agents, according to spokesman Salvador Zamora. As of March, the FBI had 12,515. A 2004 law calls for expanding the Border Patrol to 21,000 agents by the end of the decade.
