Psychotics don't usually commit murder...though they may harm their children if they are severly depressed or delusional or if they believe they are hearing voices.

Of course, pyschotics don't usually commit murder. However, with post partum psychosis it happens sometimes and maybe just due to the fact that the victim is a helpless baby and it can be done so quickly and easily before the mother even comes to her senses.

In this case, the Matthews back was turned when Mart shot him. If his back weren't turned, she might not have been able to do it as he may have been able to move out of the way or overpower her.

Or maybe Mary was trying to hurt or kill her baby or herself and Matthew tried to stop her and so she turned the gun on him?
