Nah, Kennedy can be easily persuaded, especially when it comes to social and moral issues, like abortion for instance. Like Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and possibly Alito, he's a Catholic.

Press asking Specter why he supports Alito...doesn't he suspect Alito would overturn Roe? Specter says nominees in the past (and even Senators on the committee ) have changed from pro-life to pro-choice.

Specter isn't whining. he's playing hardball with the Democrats. I'm actually kind of amused.

The Democrats never should have had kennedy challenge Specter's Chairmanship authority. Specter has evidently decided to teach them who is in the minority. About time the Democrats were shown that reality, amusing Specter is the one to teach the lesson.

This is a huge victory for the dims and the losers are going to go out and celebrate, while a good man waits his fate.

Alito is going to be confirmed. That's not a victory for the 'Rats.

You will see a huge media buy by the loonies this week and they'll smear him like no person has been smeared before.

Let them try. That will backfire on the loonies completely. The American People are sick and tired of that sh*t. Any more nonsense from the 'Rats and they'll lose more Senate seats.

The 'Rats just don't have the votes anymore. All they can do is act like idiot protesters and block streets for awhile, but in the end they will lose. If we have to wait one lousy week, so what? Justice Sam, Justice Nino, Justice Clarence and Justice John will be writing opinions the Left will hate for a very long time.

Exactly.

That Sullivan idiot; could you believe him?

The person who helped write the Kenyan constitution?!

I'll reiterate this-for those who might have missed it the first time-do the Democrats even realize how much of a self-parody they've become?

Kenya???

I can even understand Michelman to a certain degree-since there is a constituency, albeit a small one-that wants to preserve abortion on demand.

Unfortunately, they comprise an enormous segment of the Dem. Party.

But this Sullivan clown.

I mean, who are they playing to?

The Harvard law faculty?

Even I'm stunned by how oblivious these moonbats have become.

If you recall his comments a short while ago in the committee..he said that, re the schedule.. he was responding to the concerns of the Republican caucus..Arlen purposely injected the political issue intot he discusssion, which he has not done..sounds to me like he was quietly told to stick to the schedule, and he was publicly ownign up that he had received the message..

BTW A question I would have for all of the anti Alito==

How many conservatives or republicans do you have as close friends?

@@@@@@

Another question I would have for all "moderates" - who can you name that you see to the left [ie, more extreme] of your positions?

They always use "radical" or "extreme" when discussing conservatives, but never when discussing leftist positions.

"Vangaurd was not even a relevant consideration...it had nothing to do with it." Then goes on to CAP: "boy, was that a puff of smoke." I'm still liking what he's saying, for the most part.

Specter wanted committee vote on 17th and
floor vote on 20th?

Sounds reasonable. Therefore, the dims will throw a hissy fit.

Note to Specter....Bush is President

Specter has evidently decided to teach them who is in the minority. About time the Democrats were shown that reality, amusing Specter is the one to teach the lesson.

That seems to be what is going on.

Specter wonders about the timing of the Dems, and their stonewalling attempts.

I listened carefully to Specter and I still do not know the answer to that question. Does anyone?

The agreement he made with Leaky was if there was any "extraordinary" circumstances ... then the vote could be delayed ... if not .. the vote was on for the 17th

I think I'd prefer O'Connor as the swing vote to Kennedy. Kennedy is going to just love this.

Kennedy is better on church/state issues, free speech, and abortion issues (he was with Scalia and Thomas in Stenberg v. Carhart.)

I'm listening to that gremlin Kate Michelman right now on WBAI.

To quote,

I'm a big fan of Pacifica.

In other breaking news, Noam Chomsky gives another ponderous interview blaming the United States for all the world's misery.

These people are a joke.
