Well, it's going to be Justice Alito before they can stop it. They gave it the best they have and it wasn't good enough.

Leahy kept mentioning his farmhouse during the Ashcroft hearings, too.

I was imagining him cutting firewood to bring back to DC to burn Ashcroft at the stake.

If a senator wants to delay, Specter can't stop it. It's in the rules.

3. At the request of any Member, or by action of the Chairman, a bill, matter, or nomination on the agenda of the Committee may be held over until the next meeting of the Committee or for one week, whichever occurs later.

A murder accusation wouldn't surprise me.

They are acting like this is the end of times.

Specter announces that he will vote to confirm Alito.

Was it that, or that he would vote to bring him to the floor?

We can't fault specter NOW, there is nothing he can do about it. The rules are the rules.

He could be faulted for believing Leahy last november when they put the schedule together.

We can only hope that the media will make it widely known that the democrats are breaking a promise they made when they moved the schedule from december to mid-january.

I know that if they delay this, I will write about it in MY column next Wednesday.

I hold out hope that the average democrat voter will understand what it means to keep your word, and will see the democrats in power for the rats that they are, and come to their senses.

"Specter sticks!"

He still feels frisky after b*tch slapping the swimmer the other day. Spec's on a roll. For once.

Or hide for a day after you drive off a bridge (Ted Kennedy)

Teddy's train of thought, such as it is, was shunted off onto an abandoned siding in a disused industrial district many years ago.

It passed out into the night like a ship in the fog.

Teddy's shame of thought passed out and over the bridge like a drunk in the fog.

Yep. They have no regard for O'Connor or her ailing husband, and the longer she's on the bench, the longer she is kept away from her husband who has Alzheimers.

I have often commented here on how little the left pays back people who help them. They usually give a swift kick in the crotch as a reward. I hope this will be a lesson as to others who may have to deal with the left or their issues. Treating them nice gets you nowhere.

Leahy's still whining. Too bad Pat.

Arlen has been more than fair to the Dems, more fair than if they were in the majority. The time for a committee vote is asap. If a stall is what the Dems want, I suggest they go take a leak.

Meyers resigned, Arlen.

How many times can the delay tactic be used? Specter says it was already used when the hearings were rescheduled from January 2nd to January 9th.
