ESPN is wrong, USC`s win over the hapless Horns will be BIGGER then "The Single Greatest Moment in the History of Western Civilization"

I certainly hope so. I'd like to see the Trojans go out with a huge W. Texas is no joke, and could conceivably win, but I think USC will take this one decisively. At the very least, Young, Bush, Leinart, et al will provide some great highlights.

Hype?

Surely not!

In Phoenix, the local media claim that "400,000 come out to line the streets for the Fiesta Bowl Parade".

The Parade route is less than 2 miles long, my rough calculations (estimating that each person takes up 2 feet of kerb space), would mean that the crowd would be 37 rows deep on both sides of the street for the entire parade length.

In fact, the crowd is very patchy, in places it is 5 rows deep, in others it is a single line with gaps in between the spectators. There is one area with temporary bleechers, but they only hold 3 - 4000 people, the true attendance is probably 30,000 - 40,000 people, tops, but no mattter, the media wouldn't let a simple little thing like logic, common sense, or facts get in the way of a good piece of hype.

Nor do the media explain how the center of Phoenix, with NO appreciable public transportation or parking facilities, can miraculously accomodate the equivalent of FIVE Superbowl crowds, all at the same time, without the place being brought to a total standstill.

Yet nobody questions it... ( except me)

Yep, the heads of ESPN's commentators will explode that they realize that after tomorrow A. they'll have no more Hype Bowl to discuss and B. that Reggie Bush isn't going to singlehandedly deliver a Super Bowl to the Texans next year. However, since the NFL playoffs start this weekend, the ESPN hype machine will be up and running again by Thursday afternoon.

I am completely lost as to WHEN the games are on.

When did they start doing them all on different days?

The color of Paterno's tan fits right in for a bowl named Orange.

I don't know what it is.

I'm watching the game on a Sony hi-def plasma set and he is the only one that has the skin color of that of an Oompa Loompa.

You gotta admit, the whole "Bush Bowl" thing was great fun. I was closely watching it, and thanks to Houston's continued ineptitude, we can get Reggie next year (unless 1) he returns to USC to avoid us, or 2) we trade the #1 pick to get many early round choices). I for one would love to have him on the team--even if he can't do it all himself, he'll at least rekindle Houston's passion for the NFL.

Somebody explain this to me. ABC/ESPN keeps hyping this as USC's shot at history. A third straight National Championship. In their promo they show a shot of the Rose Bowl with that nice crystal trophy in front of it, but can somebody explain this to me . . . where is USC's 2003 trophy? Who are these guys holding USC's 2003 trophy?

I was in Baton Rouge a few weeks ago and lo and behold, there in LSU's Trophy Case is this same piece of hardware. I could have sworn that the team name stenciled on it was LSU. This is all so confusing. I'm sure some Pac-10 homer will straighten this all out for us.

Well, Matt's a Carolina boy, so I have mixed feelings.

Of course, his record at UNC was so bad, they ran him out of here on a rail.
