I suspect some of these shows are little more than thinly disguised autobiographies of the Hollywood riff-raff.

I read somewhere that Sex in the City and Desperate Housewives, neither titillation show do I care to watch, were written by homos about homos, but then they just changed the sexes of the characters to be hetero. They portray their homosexual lifestyles and values as being hetero and normal. No agenda there.

Are you old enough to remember The Walton's? That was a family show that had millions watching every week. Now, they have this show and I, for one, will not be watching it. There are lots more tv shows, books, and genealogy "stuff" for me to do. I was doing genealogy stuff the other day and I now have over 9900 names in my data base. Hubby backed all of it up yesterday. I can not imagine the hours I have put into that over the last 7 or 8 years.

I just read some previews about this abomination (but hey, it's NBC) and thought, why not just call the show "The Devil and Daniel Webster" instead of pretending to link the show to the Book of Daniel in the Bible.

Then, I realized that I was merely overcome with rationality instead of acknowledging that the "entertainment industry" is really all about turning America into a cesspool (of course, much of it is already thanks to the same entertainment industry).

Why doesn't NBC show real cutting edge courage and book a series based on the life of jihadist terrorist cell masquerading as a family.

Sort of like an Islamic 'Coneheads'.

Gee, when are we going to see a TV show that similarly mocks Muslims and their faith?

Right !!

Bring back a show that really told it like it is, bring back 'Max Headroom'.

When word of this stupid show came out, I did an essay called Because the "old Jesus" is so uncool and out-of-date.

The Brits have a sense of irony about such things. Their counterparts in show business here are ex-Catholics or the like who are very bitter about religion.

"NBC and all the MSM hate Christan's.
"

They hate Christan's what? Doing a Google search, I find a lot of Christan's something or another. Which one did you mean?

"You don't get it, Google man."

What is it that you think I don't get? I get that you can't spell "Christian." I get that you confuse the possessive for the plural.

At least you did not spell "Christian" as "Christina" or it would have been even funnier.

I'm not much of one for conspiracy theory. But I can't imagine any group of rational people figuring that enough people are going to watch this to keep the show on the air. Unless they figure that with the success of "Desperate Housewives" anything goes. So perhaps it really is anti-Christian.

They do make it quite plain in the promos that he's an Episcopalian priest. He even speaks from a podium with the Episcopal shield on it. And I figure that they picked an Episcopalian priest because 1) they wear readily identifiable clerical garb, 2) they can marry, which adds characters and relationships that can be used as plot devices and 3) due to the VGR ordination, they have been in the news as having conflicts over the issue of homosexuals, which leads to other characters and plot lines.

I don't get it. NBC must have a death wish. It's not good for the future television in general either. This is what happens when your business is driven by ideology.

I'm strongly considering watching the initial episode. That way, I can identify the sponsors. I can also key off of specific things that happened in the episode when I write them, and thus what I write won't sound canned or written for me by an advocacy group.

>>..the Webster family reportedly includes a 23-year-old homosexual, Republican son; a 16-year-old daughter who is a drug dealer; and an adopted son involved in an improper relationship with the bishop's daughter."
<<

This is the MSM's way of showing "people of faith" they have family values too!

Sadly, these people are so in their own little, little world that they are clueless as to how deeply offensive every aspect of that show would be to a Christian.

I think the best way to combat this mindset is to not watch NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, ever.

Our local cable system had a dispute with the provider of NBC, and we didn't get it for many months. I didn't miss it. I can easily live without it.

Uh oh... are you trying to start a flame war?

In case you didn't get the memo, Catholics hate South Park now. It's considered even more vile than Friday night Skin-a-max programming.

Can't say I'm surprised. The commercials I've seen for this abomination are stupid at best.

Why are non-Episcopalians complaining?

Because they realize they're next.
