In Rahway, we have a woman Priest. She's an interim. But Priestess is not the term used. As for a lesbian and gay fellowship, we just have a fellowship of the entire Parish.
I'll say the same thing I said to the fella about Catherine Zeta-Jones, are you sure you'd want to get your freak on with someone after knowing whom had been in the foxhole before you ? :-P
The only way gays and lesbians could experience "greater acceptance" in that church would be eating them for Holy Communion.
He needed a wife and child to quell rumors to get into office so he duped poor Dena into marriage.
He was bedding down Cipel and who knows what else, while married.
When he exited public office as his homo affairs threatened him, he dragged Dena out to the podiun when he gave his "outing" speech.
That poor girl is the quintessential abused woman.
And this sucker McGreevey can still show his face and claim to be a pro-women's rights, pro-abort liberal.
Goes to show what hypocrites these people are.
If he joins the Episcopal Church, the former NJ governor will probably be elected a bishop.
I am a Gay Episcopalian American.
If this means that he has desire to repent, he should be supported in his effort. But it would be better for him to chose the church which has less permissive attitude.
Are you a Christian?
Why? Priestess is the proper English name for a female priest, like actress for actor.
Priestess of Dionysos
McGreevey better say his prayers, because he'll need them when he's in federal prison.
"Priest" is a gender-neutral term, like "Doctor" or "Lawyer". You don't use the term "Doctress" or "Lawyerette". The single gender-neutral term applies to both male and female.
In typical usage, you would see "Priestess" only if it is an all-female clergy. That is obviously not the case here.
I just take him at face value. Only he knows what is in his heart. Just because he is notorious does not make him worse than you or me. He's just more famous.
As for permissiveness, I realize the Episcopal Church has a certain reputation, but it has been a long time since I have seen anybody having sex, gay or otherwise, in the aisles.
I see a lot of Catholics bashing Episcopalians on this thread. I could respond in kind, citing any of the thousands of examples of misbehaviour in the Catholic Church, but that would be wrong. That does not define the Catholic Church any more than Bishop Robinson defines the Episcopal.
For a person who talks a lot, you sure don't know much.
Baloney. The only reason why the words "priest" was used in the Church for the last twenty centuries is that only men could be ordained. And this will not change, because those who "ordain" women and such women themselves put are not in the Church anymore. They are in the anti-Church of Antichrist. Same applies to the openly "gay clergy".
In typical usage, you would see "Priestess" only if it is an all-female clergy. That is obviously not the case here.
The reason why they want the word "priestess" to be forgotten is OBVIOUS. Because this word has PAGAN connotations and as such is too revealing.
Wow! I'm impressed! And I'm not easily impressed...
Thanks for making it absolutely clear that I never have to talk to you again.
You are very focused on your own feeling.
Thanks for making it absolutely clear that I never have to talk to you again.
Strange, I was not aware that you ever had to. Feeling sulky?
:) If it gets me elected. Yes. If it loses me votes, of Course not. Happy Holidays. NOT.
"For a person who talks a lot, you sure don't know much."
What are you, twelve years old? What do you even mean by this?
