Stupid! What is there to struggle with? They talked to the companies accountant! They have tele-check or some system that can run the check through to see if the account is good for it.
And I am a Walmart fan. Walmart as a company didn't do this, stupid employees did.
How did they know it was the company's accountant on the phone?
Check fraud is a huge business and those perpetrators are very good at setting up friends to pose as "accountants" or even as "bankers".
While I have already posted that the employees may have made some mistakes, his behavior was just like a criminal.....once the verification process took too long, he demanded the check back and wanted to leave.
The fact they now know it is good, but the customer wants it back.
