I didn't know the man, which is apparently my loss. But I recall something I learned in high school English literature: You can learn more about a character from how others react to him than from what he says about himself.

If there's any comfort to be had, take some in the fact that he's gone to a better world, leaving those who love him behind in a somewhat smaller, sadder world. But not to stay.

Would be okay with you if we place the name "Texas Cowboy" on Freerepublic.com in memorial as a tribute to our dear friend. I am positive we will never again be blessed to have another "Texas Cowboy" who is as fine a gentlemen as El Roy was.
