The Army Reserve officer who went public with details about a secret military unit called Able Danger is being fired from his post at the Defense Intelligence Agency, a move that also could end his military career.
Attorney Mark Zaid, representing Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, was informed last week that the agency rejected an Oct. 19 appeal of its decision to revoke his client's top-secret security clearance

whatever it is, its not coming from mid level operatives inside DoD - the orders to suppress this are coming from high up.

If it was Top Secret and he leaked it then he should be dismissed. However, he should be given the same status as the democrats who lead Top Secret Information (it seems on a daily basis).
However, I agree that it could blow the democrats out of their rabbit hole along with Saddam whom they admire. Did they not say that could find no information on this organization. Congress should get the information declassified and put it out for the American People to see. The press would never print it or talk about it but we might get it out on the net.

I think you're right. Lt. Col. Shaffer was promoted to his present rank in October of 2004, a decision that was probably made in the ordinary chain of command. His whole career trajectory suddenly changed after the Able Danger revelations, although there's no genuine indication he did anything wrong, other than those revelations, to cause such a drastic change. The real investigation needs to be of who at the Pentagon is responsible for this action and why.

Obviously some Republican Ox would be gored too if all the facts come out. Weldon is the last hope and every effort is
being made to marginalize him and the evidence he wants to present.

It is not possible to leak Top Secret information to a congressional committee charged with reviewing that information.
Nor is it possible, when congress publishes a report detailing the events addressed by your information, to remain silent when they pretend to the nation that events happened a certain way, when the information you presented to them proves that events happened differently.
At that point you become party to a public conspiracy that threatens the constitutional governing of the country.

I hate to say it, but it looks like Able Danger is going to get swept right under the rug.

Because a full and complete investigation will implicate many -- both parties. They would rather 'Rather' their incompetence than reveal the truth. This issue is too political to ever see the light of day.
The only saving grace is that, according to Rep. Weldon, several Congresspersons have requested 'criminal investigation' into the matter. Also, per Weldon, the main obstacle currently is at the very top of the Defense Department -- and that is a civilian position held by a non-Democrat and his initials are Donald Rumsfeld.
