"Poor little Victim Valerie. On the cover of Vanity Fair with her oily husband (whom she personally recommended for that phony assignment that has since brought him fame and fortune). Gimme a break."

Being on the cover of Vanity Fair is no trade off for losing her career...apparently a career she loved. It cracks me up that Plame suggesting her husband for that mission is some sort of indictment. It's not as if it was a big cushy job. Wilson apparently did it for free. And a few weeks in Africa is hardly a trip to Hawaii.

The woman was apparently so dedicated to finding WMD that she opted for covert status which put her life in jeopardy every day that she served overseas. Do you really think she did not want to find the weapons connection to Iraq if they existed?

Has anyone here ever considered that there's an innocent and logical explanation for how Wilson was chosen? The subject came up, Plame said that her husband had diplomatic experience in both Iraq and Africa and still had connections and friends there...he was qualified and available to go.

It's not much different than me suggesting a friend or relative for a particular job if I know they have expertise in that area. All of this screeching about cronyism is especially amusing considering Mike Brown holding a $148,000 per year job as FEMA director.

I find it strange that Wilson was sent on a CIA mission and did not have to sign a "confidentiality clause". When he got back he wrote an op-ed piece for the NY Times.

I hardly think this is standard operating procedure for a CIA mission. This is one reason this thing smells to high heaven. I can't recall this ever happening before.

If you think Valerie and her clique at the CIA are such a stellar group, please see if you can get her to answer my questions:

Why did the CIA provide intelligence to the previous administration about WMDs in Iraq and then this rogue group suddenly disown all that intelligence from the 1990s?

If Iraq was no threat, then why did my son deploy seven times into harms way from 1997-2001 to protect the no-fly zone?

If Saddam wasn't a threat, then why did we require our military going to the no-fly zones to take anthrax injections or face serious consequences? (we lost a lot of good people who weren't willing to get those experimental vaccines, remember Cohen getting one to "prove" they were safe?)

and finally,
With Saddam's Iraq in the center of the Middle East defying 17 UN resolutions to disarm, with us in a war on terror.....and the no-fly airports in Saudi and Turkey no longer available to us, Tell me Valerie, your intelligence suddenly thinks we should just let him ferment there because of your one stinking report? I don't think so!

Let's turn that question around, "Have you ever considered there was not an innocent nor logical explanation for Wilson being chosen? Joe and Valerie were not supportive of this president nor of his Iraqi policies. CIA missions are supposed to be confidential...did it ever occur to you to ask why Joseph Wilson, not only didn't keep it confidential; he wrote an op-ed piece for the NYT about the mission and WMD's that the Senate declared was full of lies. Therefore, Joe Wilson has been thoroughly discredited, and I can't imagine anyone not asking why he was sent, and why he has been allowed to espouse his lies etc. IMO, he and Valerie should be the ones indicted for deliberately conspiring to bring down a presidency with fraudulent documents and lies meant to destroy the presidency of George W. Bush.

Have you asked yourself why, if her life as a covert agent was in such danger, she opted to reveal her covert agent status to a MARRIED man during a 'heavy make out session' on their 3rd or 4th date? I don't believe she knew him that well, in that short of time, to know that he could or could not be trusted. I wonder if she told anyone else her status after a few dates that got 'hot and heavy'?

Some of us have certainly wondered what the explanation was for sending Wilson on this mission. I didn't find a 'logical or innocent' reason, but rather a sinister reason, and that's why his op-ed piece was full of lies!
