...Have to admit, I'm caught off guard by the strength of these winds (ALREADY) on the east coast.
This is getting a little dicey w/ no shutters.

New tornado warning ... offshore Wabasso heading NE through Micco to Grant. Godless tornadoes! Where is Les Nessman when you need him?

Thank GOD, Matthew just called. He was fading in and out on his cell. It is flooding in Key West. He's safe.

I just woke up- how are conditions down there? We're just getting light rain and breezes in NW Hillsborough, and it looks like we will have a sunny day here in a few hours.

Yep, that's what the radar image and satellite are showing...Eye is just barely, but completely ashore now.
This thing is moving fast.

Strong winds here and light rain. Must have rained a lot overnight as my pond's full again! Power still on. Not quite light enough to see far

I'm in the same place and woke up to no cable, internet,or phone. If there was thunder and lightning I slept through it, I can't imagine it going it without a lightning strike somewhere.

Gusty east winds here. Just peeked out the front door. Have a 15' branch of the pecan tree snapped and dangling. Back yard looks ok, minimal debris in the pool.

It's almost 8am here in Southeast Florida and the winds are really swirling wildly, some of my small trees and plants have been blown away and it is getting worse by the minute. The hurricane shutters are up so I expect minimal structural damage. Time to shut everything down until Hurricane Wilmer (kennedy pronunciation)leaves town.
PS I promise not to loot and steal other peoples' property.

Storm surge flooding of 9 feet to 17 feet is possible along the coast near and to the south of where Wilma makes landfall. Storm surge of 5 to 8 feet is predicted for the Keys. The storm has spawned tornados throughout the Florida peninsula since yesterday evening. Lord, have mercy.

Very, very windy and raining sideways here in Lakeland. Still have power and expect not to lose it. I probably just jinxed us here.

I was wondering, the news just said something about the everglades. Is it possible that alligators could be in the flood waters and be washed into neighborhoods? If so, that could be really dangerous for those who didn't evacuate.
