Bush's job rating continues to drop

Poll shows president's performance approval at low point

(CNN) -- President Bush's job approval rating continues to plummet, with 39 percent of Americans surveyed in the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll supporting his performance, compared to 58 percent expressing disapproval.

The approval rating was lowest the poll has recorded during Bush's presidency, down from 45 percent in a survey taken September 26-28, and the disapproval rating was up from 50 percent.

--

Both Rove and Miers had lower approval ratings than Bush in the telephone survey of 1,012 adults, which has a three percentage- point error margin.

Twenty-two percent of those polled said they had a favorable opinion of Rove and 39 percent had an unfavorable opinion.

Thirty-one percent said they had a favorable opinion of Miers, who is White House counsel. Twenty-six percent said they had an unfavorable opinion of her, 17 percent said they had never heard of her, and 26 percent had no opinion.

Still, 44 percent said they would like to see the Senate confirm Miers, while 36 percent said they would not. By comparison, 59 percent had said they wanted John Roberts confirmed as Supreme Court chief justice.

Clarence Thomas, who faced sexual harassment allegations during his 1991 Senate confirmation hearings for a Supreme Court vacancy, won 53 support in a poll at the time. Only 31 percent said they wanted Robert Bork confirmed in 1987 when President Ronald Reagan unsuccessfully nominated him to the high court.

THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN GALLUP MANIPULATING ITS SAMPLING/WEIGHTING PROCEDURES IN AN ATTEMPT TO REPLICATE RESULTS FROM PEW AND AP.

That said, the following is the MONEY QUOTE FROM GALLUP'S POLLING SUMMARY:

"However, Bush's approval among his Republican base continues to hold steady. It was 85% in the previous poll and 84% now."
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-10-17-bushapproval_x.htm

[Note: The only way that Gallup managed to push the President's JA below 40 is to claim that only 8% of Democrats approve of the President's job performance -- HIGHLY IMPROBABLE!!]

RASMUSSEN REPORTS:
According to Rasmussen's tracking poll, the President's JA has CONSISTENTLY ranged between 43% and 48% this month -- with approval at the low end when weekend polling is included and approval at the high end when Saturday and Sunday 'roll out' of the results . . . By Thursday, the President's JA will return to the 46-48% range!!
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

BOTTOM LINE: Polls are nothing more than propaganda tools used by the MSM (which now owns ALL of the polling organizations except Rasmussen) to shape public opinion!!!

Well, you should cleanup. The odds at tradesports are currently at 85. So you can go short and make big money, 85 cents for every dollar. Talk is cheap.

The last Gallup poll had the race at a dead heat in 2004, at 49% each, so it was 2% off. Even with a 2-4% fudge factor, Bush having his approval ratings at 42% is nothing to cheer about.

Simple recipie to boost poll #'s, build a wall to keep out lawbreakers from Mexico, facilitate killing of as many
muslim extremists as fast as possible and extricate troops
from Iraq , how many Americans give two hoots in hell about worthless Iraqis? Immediately eject everyone working in the state dept except Condi and replace them with patriotic
Americans.Stop spending every dime you can find! Start arresting illegals and fine their employers a kings ransom
to make up for all the cash you've overspent!

If your referring to the GOP, I tend to agree.

Proof of the pudding will be in 06 when the pubs are likely to lose the House to the dems.

In your dreams. Of course I'm sure you wouldn't mind seeing the Republican Party destroyed even if it mean sending the country to hell at the same time. As another Freeper put it, "Donner Party conservatives".

Thanks. I was going to ask the critics, why, if this is such a bad nomination for us, aren't the democrats driving GWB's approval rating up?

I'm not surprised to see that the Republican's are staying steady. I'm glad you checked this out. I only read Poll posts in order to find these nuggets.

If both Republicans win, that is a good sign that none of this means anything about the 2006 elections.

I don't know about that. In 2001 we lost both those govenors races and yet we picked up Senate seats in 2002. So there is probably little predictive value in these race as a foreshadow of next year

Bush could implement the entire Democrat platform and the Democrats would still disapprove.

I'll tell you the antidote for sinking into deep Bush hatred. And this is coming from a sufferer. Spend some time with a couple of liberals. It won't take long. Hell, just have lunch with them. You'll be back on the bus in no time. For me, it was my mother and my sister. One sit down meal with the two of them and I might as well have been Andrew Card.

LOL. Well, not really. You have my sympathy. Those are the worst of situations. I'm on the bus too, but I'd like for GWB to not drive it is such a way that it splits us so far apart.

The Miers haters are grasping for any straw they can find---even those at CNN

No doubt the Miers haters are more than thrilled to see Bush's numbers drop.

The Dems must be loving the spectacle of the right feeding on it's own.

Amen, brother. The tradesports and other areas like it where people actually bet their money, tell it the way it is.

The MSM is so caught up in their hatred for the President that they have lost all historical perspective. Here are the approval ratings for other presidents at their lowest point.

Bush Sr. 29%
Johnson 35%
Clinton 37%
Reagan 35%
Nixon 24%
Ford 37%
Carter 28%

Interesting to note that the hyper-critical MSM harps on this being Bush's lowest point yet but refuse to recognize that his 39% favorable rating is still higher than all these others at their lowest point.

It's pretty bad at FR when CNN is being used as a source for "real" information...

Whenever CNN, NYT, et. all support our position, they ARE credible. Any other time they are lying, cheating, liberal bastions that are beneath contempt.

You've been here long enough to know that. ;-)

I'd like to know who is being polled, I've never been called have any of you? I think the poll masters are slanting the results to get the numbers they want, that's why I don't pay attention to them and the Prez doesn't either.
