Uighurs to Declare War against Chinese Government

09/30/05

The members of 'East Turkestan Liberation Organization(ETLO)' making the declaration via a video (from BBC)

'East Turkestan Liberation Organization(ETLO)', a radical Uighur organization, declared publicly war against Chinese government for the first time, via videotaped statements, BBC reported on Sept. 30th (in its Chinese edition.)

According to BBC, 'East Turkestan Information Center' located in Munich, Germany, provided the link to the web site containing this video(made by Tianshan branch of ETLO), and apparently it was announced via overseas Wanwei free server, fhreactor.com.

In the video, three ETLO masked members carrying an assault rifle announced the declaration in Uighur language, with the organization's banner(crescent Moon flag with stars) as a backdrop.

In their statements, they appealed to Uighurs to resist the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of Xinjiang Autonomous District on Oct. 1, and declared that they will prosecute armed revolt against Chinese government, with all possible means.

Chinese government classifies ETLO, which demands Uighur independence, as a terrorist organization, and in particular, after 9/11 incident, tightened the control over Uighurs in the name of anti-terror (campaign), causing international condemnations.

On Sept. 23rd,  in Kuerlei, one of three major cities in Xinjiang, its Uighur mayor, Mutalifu(?) Yusuf(age:43)  reportedly killed himself, but Chinese government is clamping down  the coverage of this incident, prompting suspicion on the nature of his (alleged) suicide.

After WWII, Uighurs in Xinjiang set up independent 'East Turkestan Republic' just like five other countries in West Turkestan, but it was forcibly annexed to China by (Chinese) communists in 1949.

Currently, many Uighurs rather want to exercise the right of full ethnic autonomy guaranteed in Chinese law rather than independence, and oppose nuclear test (in their territory,) one-child policy, and religious persecution. However, they are now all branded as 'separatists.'

So what do we do when an army off 200,000,000 men comes rolling in to the mideast from China? After all , don't they have the right to go after the terrorists also?
I don't see this working out very well.

As I remember from reading over the past decades, this isn't China's first problem with their Muslim neighbors or their own Muslim Chinese population.
As I remember, the Chinese Army and "justice" system were merciless. The "problem" disappeared for a while.

As long as there are poor, discontented people ruled by ruthless corrupt governments, this rebellion, revolt and insurrection will always erupt and resurrect.
It's a given, knowing human nature.

I don't see this working out badly for us or China.
China won't kill the golden goose.....A.K.A., the U.S.A., or cause bad relation$ with Uncle $am. And we will continue to give China a pass on human rights violations because they BUY, BUY, BUY from us.

'The War on Terror' is a great excuse for doing all kinds of things, and China isn't stupid. I'm sure they'll try to exploit it as much as possible, in the name of defeating 'terror.' This is particularly easy when you can define terrorists groups, um, broadly, like those evil Tibetan monks or underground church groups...

The Chinese have had a Muslim problem for many, many years. The husband of Chinese friends has been in this country for 8 years now. He remembers problems and Chinese government concern back many years before that.

Re #23

There were some OBL elements infiltrated into Xiinjiang around the time of 9/11. China supported Talibans behind the scene at the time. It was reported that China pulled their support upon learning it. If OBL pulled back Al Qaeda support from Xinjiang, we cannot rule out that China is back to business with OBL group. I wonder how China would treat this latest news: Is OBL's boys coming back to Xinjiang or is this an isolated small Jihadi operation?

It looks like the muslim "caliphate" is trying to expand in Central Asia and establish the 8th Turkic state. Hopefully, the Chinese will do what needs to be done.

Turkey is behind this and has been for years.

Re #26

Turkey pitted against China? Are they moving away from Chechen Jihad(before 9/11) and into Xinjiang Jihad?

Thanks for the pictures, I'm glad I live in the United States.

Sometimes it's good to take a minut and realise what we have here.

.... I notice most of the folks were slim and trim , they must have a lot of health clubs there...

This is whack propaganda.

Historically the Muslim Uighurs are the good guys vs the communists in all respects.

The anti-communist resistenace has laways been pretty weak and never jihadist or islamofascist.

In fact the Uighurs were much more western friendly than the communist Chinese.

One of the recent Muslim "terrorists" they jailed was a woman named Rebiya Kadeer. Her crime was to be a business woman who made a lot of money and was even profiled in the Wall Sreet Journal. Her crime was sending her husband, who was in the US and going to testify to congress, information on the Chinese communist activities in suppressing the anti-communist movement.

Thanks for the pics.

Uighurs of East Turkestan are western friendly, non-islamofascist fundamentalists.

So what do we do when an army off 200,000,000 men comes rolling in to the mideast from China?

Rev. 9

[12] One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

[13] And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

[14] Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

[15] And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

[16] And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

Does that mean that they are not true followers of mohammed?

Our country should support these resistance to fight the Communist. It should exhaust the Chinese military and take away their resource that may threat America and India one day. If East Turkistan succeeds to seperate, China will lose some of its territory, resource, population, and the most important factor, access to Central Asia. India should support these seperatists as well to gain a buffer state in between. If Al Qaida ever comes into the region afterward, then we just have to do the same what has been done to Afghanistan, install a democratic government, and a frontier against China.

I have heard that Uighurs were rather loose to Muslim identities, some eating pork, which could mean moderate. The problem would be the possibilities of Wahabbi Muslims spreading the germs like they did in Chechenya against East Turkistan. Let's hope not.
