Not to defend these questionable minions, but one of the deserters appeared on Louisville, KY TV last night saying she could not go on as a cop. There wasn't any one there to take care of THEM.

Not to defend these questionable minions, but one of the deserters appeared on Louisville, KY TV last night saying she could not go on as a cop. There wasn't any one there to take care of THEM. There were quite a few cases I view as legitimate including police who could not find family members. But they are muddied by those who had no or less valid reasons for skipping out.

It does tend to lower moral in times of stress, when you know that the backup you might need to call for doesn't exist.
That doesn't absolve desertion, but it might make it slightly understandable.
