You almost have to wonder whether Blanco is getting her marching orders from NOW. It is not implausible to think some feminist group is telling her, "You can't let these men, especially one below you in the chain of command, override your authority, no matter how stupid a decision you would have to make."
I seriously think the DNC is advising her, knowing no matter how bad it gets, they can just blame Bush and the GOP for it.
