Tancredo Predicts GOP Immigration Clash -- "Believe me, it will be one hell of a fight"

President Bush and House conservatives are on a collision course over the contentious issue of immigration reform, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) said Thursday.

Tancredo, chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and author of the REAL GUEST Act (HR 3333), said he expects Bush to embrace legislation drafted by Senators Teddy Kennedy (D.-Mass.) and John McCain (R.-Ariz.). Conservatives strongly oppose the bill, which Tancredo said is tantamount to amnesty.

Tancredo’s bill instead focuses on enforcement, particularly on companies that employ illegal immigrants. He said once illegal workers are denied jobs, they will no longer flood into the United States.

“If you stop illegal employment in this country—some big, high-profile cases with . . .

What is wrong with our government ???
------
1. Fright of the MSM.
2. Politics.
3. Votes.
4. Power and control.

Clue: Everything BUT wanting to work FOR the people of this country - you know, those people who put them in Washington to do just that!!!

Immigration is not "one issue." It affects crime, schools, taxes, hospitals, infrastructure, quality of life, language, culture, etc., etc., etc.

BTTT!

"he lies in nearly every thread"

Example: "It's not just coincidence that the border states and the Southwest and states that are immigrant friendly are the prosperous ones."

If Bush wants there to be ANY chance of electing a Republican President in 2008, he had best not endorse Kennedy/McCain

Chance of a Republican being elected?

How about chance of peace in this nation!

With millions of iilegal aliens trashing our treasury, and now with New Orleans showing us what the welfare state has brought us, taxpayers are way beyond the breaking point. The President should be worrying more about the survival of the nation, not about the 2006 and 2008 elections.

5. Lazy-minded voters who are constantly told - and believe - that voting itself is more important than actually putting some real thought into the problems facing the country, before they vote.

Oh, imagine that...Tancredo on immigration. One issue candidate.

Yes, but it's the one issue that the Bush administration is most egregiously wrong on. He's got my vote if he runs.

Alex Marko, stop lying about Cong. Tancredo's record.

If you have proof that Cong. Tancredo is excessively absent from votes in the United States House of Representatives, please provide a link to information that would substantiate such a claim.

Here is a link to a list of immigration votes compiled by NumbersUSA: http://profiles.numbersusa.com/improfile.php3?DistSend=CO&VIPID=146 . I would guess that its list of immigration votes by Cong. Tancredo is not a complete list. However, the list compiled by NumbersUSA lists votes by Cong. Tancredo on immigration issues in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005. Cong. Tancredo cast many votes on immigration issues before 2004.

Cong. Tancredo is strongly pro-life. Cong. Tancredo was rated 0% by NARAL in December 2003. Here is a link to a website that provides a list of ten (10) votes by Cong. Tancredo'on the subject of abortion: http://www.ontheissues.org/House/Tom_Tancredo.htm . It also provides a list of votes on many other subjects.

If you were interested in presenting accurate facts about Cong. Tancredo rather than lying about his record, you coudl have gone to the National Right to Life Committee's website and researched his voting record on abortion issues and seen that Cong. Tancredo during the 106th Congress (1999-2000), Cong. Tancredo cast twenty (20) votes related to abortion. He received a score of one hundred percent (100%) from the National Right to Life Committee for that session. Here is a link to that scorecard: http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/scorecard/?chamber=H&session=106&x=15&y=10#CO . You would also have seen that during the 107th Congress (2001-2002)he cast sixteen (16) votes related to abortion. He received a score of one hundred perecent (100%) from the National Right to Life Committee for that session. Here is a link to that scorecard: http://www.capwiz.com/nrlc/scorecard/?chamber=H&session=107&x=17&y=12#CO .

In March 2005, Cong. Tancredo received the "Taxpayers' Friend Award" from the National Taxpayers Union (NTU). According to the NTU, Cong. Tancredo was given an "A" rating by the NTU for being one of the strongest supporters of responsible tax and spending policies in Congress. Here is a link to the NTU's list of "2004 Taxpayer Friends": http://www.ntu.org/main/page.php?PageID=75 . Cong. Tancredo ranked twelth (12th) highest in the entire House of Representatives in NTU's ratings.

In May 3, 2005, Cong. Tancredo received one of the "Best & Brightest" awards from the American Conservative Union (ACU). The ACU recognized those members of the U.S. Congress who recorded a perfect score of one hundred percent (100%) in the ACU ratings. Here is a link to the ACU's web page with photos of May 3, 2005, ceremony at which the "Best & Brightest" awards were given: http://conservative.org/pressroom/bestbrightest.asp . The ACU ratings are based on how representatives voted during twenty-five (25) votes. Cong. Tancredo achieved his perfect score with none of the votes having anything to do with immigration.

Since you posted this lie about Cong. Tancredo, I am pinging many people who may have read your lie while reading this thread. I hope the information contained in this ping will be useful for those I have pinged.

Tancredo's "one issue" is "THE" issue for America in the coming elections. Why do you defend illegal immigration?

Alex Marko, stop lying about Cong. Tancredo's record.

He's part of the more-loud-than-numerous Free Republic Open Borders Lobby (FROBL.) Lying is what they do best.

As a 42 year old native "Val", let me tell you this: Southern California was a paradise when I was a kid. And I am an eyewitness to the fact that the illegal alien influx is what ruined it. They did far more damage than the liberals ever did. In fact, to give proper credit, a few of the things that liberals supported, were actually good (cleaner air, for example). But no good, and much evil, has come of the illegal alien wave.

Hence, I am totally immune to the arguments of the open-borders types. At best, I regard them as sheltered Northeasterers who have no idea what we're up against; at worse, if they know what they are supporting, they are traitors who deserve the firing squad.

Tancredo 2008. Because nobody else will do what needs to be done.

From what I can garner in discussion with the OBL's here, most of them are in the south and benefit in some way from cheap labor.

There are some of us in the northeast who are absolutely outraged at the lack of desire of out federal govt. to do anything about this problem
