No offense, but anyone who relies on any government to tell them what to do and when to do it, especially if waiting flies in the face of his common sense, he needs his head examined.

Tourists had flights cancelled. Couldn't rent a car. Now what do they do?

All it would have taken were shuttles out of town to get them to higher ground.

We've cancelled two vacations due to hurricanes. We didn't go. It ain't rocket science. Of course, we also bought the travel insurance :)

Then maybe they would have been sitting in one of those other towns that was devastated. They might be worse off than where they are now.

Call me silly, but if I were stuck, I'd either head for the best shelter possible, or given enough time, hit the highway on foot and try to hitch a ride.....

If I were driving out of town and could in any way shape or form fit a person on the side of the road without transportation into my car, I'd do it in a second in a case like this....
