What is your opinion about the helicopters dropping 3,000 pound sand bags on the levee...will it work/help?

Basic hydrology indicates that by the time they get the sandbags in place, the lake and city water levels will have just about equalized.

Fixing the breech only allows pumping to begin at some point in the future. It will not halt complete flooding to lake level.

a couple of things for people still interested in facts and not sensationalism...

slidell is not "gone" abc was doing a report from slidell during the storm and left after....yes its flooded...but its not "gone".....the western eyewall grazed the city.....but winds werent strong enough to level a city.

8000 people died in galveston....anyone thinking this will remotely approach this is wrong......while it looks horrible in new orleans and no doubt there are deaths the flood was a relative "slow rise" event.

breech: 3 : the part of a firearm at the rear of the barrel

BREACH 2 a : a broken, ruptured, or torn condition or area b : a gap (as in a wall) made by battering

A friend who used to live in NOLA reports that the breach pictured above may be in one of the canals used to pump water out of the city, if his memory serves.
