I just talked to onyx; she is fine in Vicksburg; no power, no nothing; can't make cell calls out but gets them once in a while.
Lots of trees stripped and down, but no major damage. at least at her house; she said Hattiesburg is devastated, according to the MS radio stations.
She's ridden her first hurricane and doesn't EVER want to do it again.
Thanks for the update
Stay safe, Onyx
Thanks for the update on onyx.
Thanks for the update, Howlin.
I visited Vicksburg back in '97. A fine-looking city...except for a few certain parts.
Hope there wasn't too much damage to the historical buildings and battlefield sites.
Whew...I tried calling and couldn't get through. Thanks for the update. The guy on FOX was just reporting from Vicksburg and said it was pretty bad so I got scared again and tried calling, again. This is just horrible.
At least there's SOME good news!
I'm very glad to hear onyx is fine!
It's frightening to hear that Hattiesburg is devastated. My cousin did find out my aunts survived in Purvis (12 miles SSW), and the house is still standing, but no other info yet. Scary.
thanks for the update.
I've seen reports from Hattiesburg on wjtv.com from Jackson, MS.
I lived through Fredrick as a teenager in Mississippi, this is at least 10 times worse.
Thankfully, with the trees going down and the flying debris, Hattiesburg has not reported any fatalities so far.
I'm glad onyx is ok. I was thinking of her.
Do you realize that on top of all this, we really have to worry about terrorist attacks at a time like this when our resources are stretched? :(
