I know, I know. You were posting about this yesterday too, weren't you? Chill. Humor good / Ulcers bad .

Are you a fan or a stalker?

Humor is fine - stupid posts at the head of every thread - bad

Bomb blast at Istanbul cafe injures 2: police blame Kurds
Updated at 19:09 on July 23, 2005, EST.

ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - A bomb blast at an Istanbul cafe late Saturday night injured at least two people, police said.

The blast, which police said was caused by either a remote-controlled bomb or a bomb on a timer, took place at a cafe at the bottom of the Galata bridge, a popular area for tourists and Turks to go for fish dinners.

A Dutch citizen and a Turk who worked at the cafe were injured, Turkey's Anatolia news agency reported. Police at the site earlier said three people were injured but a police official later said only two were injured. There was no immediate explanation for the discrepancy.

An official also said police suspected Kurdish guerrillas were behind the attack. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.

Mashar Adanas, a vendor selling grilled fish sandwiches about 100 metres away from the cafe, said he felt a violent explosion and then saw people running out of the cafe shouting "bomb, bomb."

Mustafa Bulut, who was selling corn from a cart near the blast, said he also saw people running from the cafe.

"I turned around right away and everyone was running. Everyone panicked," Bulut said.

Police in white outfits could be seen searching the area near the blast with flashlights for evidence as other police kept onlookers away from the site.

Last Saturday, a bomb placed under a seat of a minibus in a popular Turkish Aegean beach resort killed five people, including an Irish teenager and a British woman.

No group has claimed responsibility for that blast but suspicion also fell on Kurdish guerrillas.

It wouldn't matter if they signed. In Islam, it is perfectly acceptable to lie to infidels.

They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you've a date in Constantinople
She'll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can't go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)

No, for me it's much better in an Islamic country than on my front porch, and I hope our leaders ensure that it stays that way.

I agree with you.

If we pull out of Iraq it's just another place, like Iran now is, that the terrorists can set up safe havens, etc.

Iran's president-elect has proclaimed an Islamic revolution of global proportions.

Mahmood Ahmadinejad said his election coincided with what he termed a new Islamic revolution.

Iran's president-elect has proclaimed an Islamic revolution

I guess he considers his election to be a 'mandate' for jihad. Any connection between his June 30 'global revolution' and the July 7 bombings in London, and the 22nd, and the Egyptian one and now Turkey.

stable societies and governments are incapable of protecting their citizens, and it's every man for himself - and hence, easier for the wolves of Islam to pick off.

If it ever gets to that point in the US there'll be plenty of people willing to take-up target practice.

Supposedly, the Sharm al-Sheikh massacre was related in some way to the last Al-Qaeda terrorist attack in Egypt, at Taba.

One of my favorite TMBG songs.

I think it was also done by Paul Simon, but I have no idea who originally wrote the lyrics.

It's actually a hit from the 1950s. My dad recognized it when I played TMBG! The 'Four Lads' did it back then, and it was a top ten hit in 1953. But they might not have been the first, because other bands might have gotten to the music for other tunes. I know when I looked at the album notes the copyright was from the 1920s.

The author, Jimmy Kennedy also wrote "South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)", and co-wrote one of my favorite Bing Crosby tunes, "How Can You Buy Killarney?"
